This week, we proudly celebrated Harmony Week, a time to acknowledge the rich diversity within our School community and the many cultures, languages and stories that help shape who we are.

It was truly wonderful to see so many students wearing cultural dress on Wednesday. The colours, fabrics and traditions represented across our campus prompted meaningful conversations about heritage, identity and family stories. Many year levels also embraced cultural sharing through food, with students bringing in dishes from around the world. These shared meals created a sense of togetherness and curiosity as students learned about one another’s backgrounds through flavours and family recipes.

Our diversity is something to celebrate and treasure. Across our Junior School community, we have students born in countries ranging from American Samoa to the United States of America. Our nationalities span Australian to Vietnamese and the languages we speak range from Arabic through to Telugu. This breadth of cultural heritage enriches our learning environment every day and reflects the global mindset we aim to nurture in our students.

On a personal note, Harmony Week always encourages me to reflect on my own story. My mother was English, born in Sudan; my father Hungarian, born in Bavaria. Their experiences, and the blending of cultures within my own family, have shaped my deep appreciation for diversity.

Having worked in an international school in Abu Dhabi and an inner‑city school in the UK, I am especially grateful for our incredible community here at St Peter’s College. It is a privilege to be part of a Junior School that genuinely reflects a truly international community, right here in my home town.

Thank you to all families who contributed cultural dress, food, stories and enthusiasm throughout Harmony Week. Your support helps create a school environment where every student feels seen, valued and a true sense of belonging.

Wishing you a safe and relaxing weekend.
