As an Anglican School we are called to provide the best education and best formation of our boys. The idea of formation and education do not sit separate, they are intertwined in all that we do at SPSC. We have a responsibility through our spiritual, academic, pastoral and co-curricular programs to ensure each boy is a steward of the gifts God has given them and through our programs they share their gifts with the community.
The last two weeks we have certainly had the opportunity to see so many of our boys share their gifts with our community.
As part of our ongoing commitment to the formation of our boys, we had the privilege of welcoming Dave Kramer to speak to the Senior School as part of the Rex J Lipman Fellows Program. Having spoken to a number of parents after Mr Kramer’s visit, he has obviously made a strong impact with conversations shared at home about the importance of creating communities that foster safe, equitable and inclusive behaviours through the lens of respectful relationships.
In the Arts we have seen a hugely successful Arts Day culminate in an amazing Battle of the Bands. The opportunity for our boys in Years 7 to 9 to explore many different art mediums was brilliant to see. The morning’s festivities led to what I have been assured by staff and students was the Best Battle of the Bands yet. The talent on show was phenomenal and it was lovely to see the boys who got up and performed on stage be so well supported by our whole Senior School Community.
Our Year 12 Drama students completed their play. The depth of emotion demonstrated in the acting highlights the time and effort these boys put into the process. Again, it is never easy to perform in front of an audience, yet they were able to engage and entertain with charisma and skill. Adding to this has been the Gig @ the Gov and the annual ABODA competition which has seen our students gain recognition and success.
Our winter sports program has continued and is reaching its crescendo as we eagerly anticipate our Intercol against PAC next week. The dedication and commitment of our boys and their coaches across various sports will be on full display. We are confident that in the true spirit of competition, the boys will play hard and represent SPSC with distinction, and when all is said and done, we will extend the hand of friendship to the boys from PAC.
Amidst the excitement of co-curricular activities and the array of opportunities beyond the classroom, it’s important to recognise the significant learning that continues to take place within our academic pursuits. We are truly fortunate to belong to a community that embraces the development of the whole child, fostering growth through the many and enriching experiences that are available.
As we look forward to the competition and camaraderie of Intercol, may we continue to guide our young boys into young men through our framework of being an Anglican School. May they continue to embrace being both strong and lovely in all their pursuits.
