It has been an excellent start to Term 4 and so lovely to have students all back on campus after an eventful holiday break filled with Year 6 trips to Canberra, Robotics teams also heading to Canberra for the National Competition, and of course Tennis Camp and OSHC activities.

As Term 4 commences, some may feel like the race to the finish line has commenced. For me, it feels like a good time to strengthen our commitment to goals we have set earlier in the year. As I hope many of you will know, our vision is to be an exceptional community of learning.

  • Exceptional, because everyone is different and we want each student to find what they love and shine at it. We try our best each day, set big goals and go further than we through we could.
  • Community, because relationships matter and we are part of something bigger than ourselves.
  • Learning, because our learning never stops, whether we are students, staff or even parents.

With this in mind, we have started the term clearly communicating with the boys, what exceptional learners look like to us at SPSC.

Exceptional Learners:-

  • Are curious
  • Are creative
  • Collaborate
  • Seek truth
  • Make connections
  • Think about their thinking
  • Are persistent
  • Focus on and plan for personal growth
  • Are always willing to try new things.

We look forward to embedding this language of learning across the Junior School in view of developing students who are future ready!

Congratulations to Eddie, this years Art Captain, for the way in which he spoke at the Art Exhibition opening last week and to all our students’ creative contributions to the beautifully curated sea scape of an exhibition. Thank you to Ms Houston for her leadership of our Junior School Art Program.

To our Year 1 students who slept out on Palm House Oval, well done on doing something that I’m sure was out of your comfort zone. It was an excellent evening, and reflection of an exceptional community of learning in action.
