“People may hear your words, but they feel your attitude.”
This quote from John C Maxwel, Author of Everyone Communicates, Few Connect, is a reminder for us all. It means that what you say matters, but the way you show up—your body language, your tone, your kindness, your enthusiasm—matters even more.
Ahead of last week’s Junior School Leaders Commissioning Service, I thought about how this message connects to our School values.
Consider this: A leader who lives with truth speaks honestly, keeps their promises, and acts with integrity. Truth isn’t only something you say — it’s something others can feel through your attitude. When you are consistent, genuine, and trustworthy, people feel safe following your lead.
Respect is felt more than it is heard. A respectful leader listens well, treats everyone fairly, uses a calm voice and shows care for others. When your attitude shows patience, kindness, and understanding, others feel valued — even before you say a word.
Service is leadership in action. It’s not just saying “I’ll help,” but stepping forward with a positive attitude, looking for ways to support others, and putting the needs of the group before your own. When you serve with enthusiasm and gratitude, people feel inspired to do the same.
Congratulations to the student leaders who were presented with their badges by Headmaster, Tim Browning, at a commissioning service lead by Fr Theo last Friday. I would also like to acknowledge all our Year 6 students as they are also new leaders within our community with the capacity to serve others and in truth and righteousness and demonstrate what it means to be strong and lovely too.

I also commend all Junior School students on the way in which they have started the School year; shoes have been shiny, haircuts tidy and socks have been up! There has also been an atmosphere of connection and positively amongst students and staff alike. Thanks to boys, parents and staff for the excellent start we have had to our school year.
I look forward to seeing you at the Headmaster’s Welcome Drinks next Friday 13 February and the Junior School Movie Night and Fun Fair on Saturday 28 February.
