Term 3 is off to a flying start and there is a wonderful sense of energy, purpose and connection across our Junior School. From exciting new student-led initiatives to acts of service that remind us of the very best of our community, it has been a joy to see our students embracing every opportunity to learn, lead and make a difference.

A highlight has been watching the boys watch the progress on our playground renewal unfolding. Each day brings visible changes, and the excitement amongst students continues to build as they watch this exciting space take shape. We cannot wait to see our learners engaging with the new play space!

Our commitment to student agency continues through boys’ contributions at the Student Voice and Action Forum. This group provides students with a genuine platform to share ideas, identify opportunities for improvement and contribute meaningfully to the life of our school. In the past two weeks alone we have seen a student initiated Interschool Puzzle Club introduced as a weekly lunch time activity and addition to our SEA offerings.

Our inaugural PJ Day, also student initiated, has also been a product of the Student Voice and Action Forum. What a remarkable day it was! Not only did our students and staff enjoy being cosy for the day, but together we achieved something truly special. Through the generosity of our community, more than 300 pairs of pyjamas, over 30 pairs of Ugg boots and slippers, along with Oodies, dressing gowns, socks, beanies and blankets were donated to Backpack for Kids; an extraordinary result that will make a genuine difference to children in need.

It is an example of how service continues to be embedded throughout our community. Parents, students and staff demonstrate an understanding of the importance of looking beyond themselves and considering the needs of others. From our enthusiastic Year 1 students, affectionately describing themsleves as “mini Jasons” as they attend to the cleanliness of the yard, to our Year 5 students engaging with The Salvation Army ahead of Homelessness Awareness Week, we are seeing authentic compassion in action.

Thank you to our staff, students and families for such a positive start to the term, even if it has been a little muddy!

Please remember, I am always open to feedback and suggestions, and encourage you to reach out via email should you wish to meet: jtaylor@stpeters.sa.edu.au

Have a lovely weekend.
