It has been a tremendous fortnight filled yet again with excursions, competitions, incursions, assemblies and an incredible audience with Australian of the Year Katherine Bennell-Pegg.
To be more specific, some of our Year 6 Student Leaders ventured to PAC for the R U Okay Leadership summit, whilst hundreds of boys participated in International Competitions and Assessments for Schools (ICAS) in Digital Technologies, Writing and English. We’ve had another Author in Residence, a guest speaker from Anglicare, and six ensembles compete in the Australian Band and Orchestra Directors’ Association competition held at Brighton Senior School and Westminster.
A highlight of the fortnight is hard to pick, but it has to be said that hosting 350 students from Seymour College, St Peter’s Girls’ School, Wilderness School and Walford Anglican School for Girls for our Rex J Lipman partnered Junior School Audience with Katherine Bennell-Pegg was extraordinary. Seeing our student population more than double in size, to see our boys working alongside girls on STEM and escape room challenges, sharing a sausage sizzle and playing on the ovals together was testament to the relationships we have with our partner girls schools, and the connections our boys are establishing through our co-educational opportunities.
We were blessed with fine weather for our Winter House Games. Thanks to all those who helped make the day possible; our Heads of House for their leadership and organisation, along with Mr McCormack, Ms Horne, and Mr Storer and all supporting teachers and staff.
A special thank you to the Junior School Friends of Saints for providing yet another sausage sizzle. Having so many parents in attendance helps create the strong sense of community that makes our Junior School so special.
I am confident our boys in Years 3 to 6 enjoyed the competition, supporting each other wholeheartedly, demonstrating good sportsmanship, resilience and House spirit throughout the day.
Lost Property
A combination of cold and wet weather, plus mud, interspersed with sunshine, warmth and some distracted students, has led to a metaphorical mountain of lost property in the Junior School.
To help us manage the waylaid items, please:
- Visit the lost property box at the Junior School Reception Desk
- Label all items with a laundry marker or iron on label with your son’s name, and better still your mobile phone number
- If you buy clothes from the Recycled Uniform Store, remove the previous owner’s name (Let’s spare our Year 12 students the embarrassment of having an 8 year old sized blazer or pair of shorts returned to them in front of their peers!)
Please remember, I am always open to feedback and suggestions, and encourage you to reach out via email should you wish to meet: jtaylor@stpeters.sa.edu.au
Have a lovely weekend.
