This week has been Blue Week – a week dedicated to raising awareness of men’s mental health.

All students had muffins with their Mentor on Monday to start an open conversation about mental health; sporting teams and opponents have worn and will continue to wear a blue armband this week as a sign of solidarity; and the week concludes with a ‘blue’ clothes day and ‘Battle of the Bands’ House competition.

We also welcomed Jed Altschwager to School Muster. Jed is a para-athlete who lost his leg in a workplace accident and spoke about the choices he made on his journey back to physical and mental health. His inspiring message was all about seizing the opportunity and showing gratitude for the small things in life.

House groups enjoyed a video message from Hugo Toovey (HWD 2009), who shared his inspirational journey as a young officer in the Australian Army and his battles with cancer. Hugo encouraged the boys to be confident to reach out for support and to feel no shame in seeking help.

Please join us in discussing the above events with your sons.

I would like to thank all boys who contributed to this week’s activities, and highlight our School Captains, Tim Prince and Oliver Cobain, for their outstanding effort, initiative and leadership throughout this week.

We remain committed to promoting the wellbeing of our students and supporting them (and you) as they navigate their emotional journey through their teenage years.

Please reach out to the pastoral care team to discuss any matters relating to the wellbeing of your son. If you are unsure who to speak to, please contact me directly.
