From the Head of Junior School

It has been a wonderful start to Term 3 and today we celebrate the 100th day of school milestone for 2023!

I’d like to congratulate all the students whose work is on display in the Junior School Art Exhibition. Our students’ talent and skill development was unmistakable in the artwork inspired by Artist in Residence Zinia King. I’d also like to mention Sally Houston and thank her for the incalculable hours she spent imagining, planning and executing an inspirational curation of Junior School Art. It has been a joy seeing the awe and wonder and appreciation of beauty and excellence as students, parents, and staff have enjoyed the incredible array of whimsical Australian fauna illustrations.

As we have move into the second semester, it is worth reflecting on some of the key learning behaviours we encourage our students to demonstrate and report on in our end of semester reports. Over 200 students in the Junior School received an ACE merit for demonstrating accountability, cooperation and engagement consistently across all subjects areas last semester. These behaviours impact not only academic achievement, but students’ performance on stage and the sporting field; and relationships with staff and fellow students too.

I have seen so many more students opening doors for visitors and adults over the last semester. The eye contact boys give when greeting staff is excellent and more students are tying their own Windsor knots independently.

Thank you for your ongoing support in keeping our students’ presentation at a high standard. Even if the ovals have been getting muddier in these winter months, shoes need to be shinier than ever. Please know that my door is always open, and I will always welcome your questions and feedback.
