Junior School Chamber Recitals

Congratulations to all students who participated in the Chamber Recitals over the past weeks. Chamber recitals provide an excellent solo performance opportunity for the boys. I loved hearing parents celebrate the progress they could see their own son and other boys had made in their performance standard since last year’s recitals. It really is phenomenal to think that there are over 350 individual music lessons taken by students across the Junior School each week thanks to a team of over 30 individual music tutors.

Visit the Music Tuition tile on Keystone for further information about individual music lessons.

Year 4 Concert

The standard of music performed at the Year 4 Concert on Thursday evening was outstanding. To have 86 boys on stage, playing saxophones, oboes, bassoons, clarinets, flutes, trumpets, trombones, euphoniums, French horns, electric bass and percussion instruments in Year 4 Class Bands, Combined Class Band and Super Band, was a triumph! Thanks must go to Mr Simon Varga, Junior School Music Coordinator, and the incredible music team and instrumental teachers who support the Year 4 Band Program.

 Remembrance Day Service

Junior School students and staff joined the Senior School on the lawns in front of Memorial Hall on Thursday 11 November to participate in a significant Remembrance Day Service. Recognising the 100 years that have passed since the foundation stone of Memorial Hall was laid. Junior School Captain, Caleb Scott, recited John McCrae’s poem, In Flanders Fields, and Vice Captain, Ryan Weinert, laid a wreath during the poignant time of reflection.

Step Up Day

With just two weeks left of this academic year, students and teachers alike are eagerly anticipating Step Up Day which is scheduled for Friday 26 November. Students are required to wear their PE uniforms on this day. They will get an opportunity to spend time with their 2022 classmates and meet their teachers. The boys will bring home a letter to advise who their teacher will be in the new year.

Staffing

Bryce Linford who has taught in Year 1 for the last two years has be offered a permanent teaching position at Rostrevor College starting in 2022. Samantha Irvine, who also started her teaching career at St Peter’s College, is taking a year of leave. Both Bryce and Samantha commenced their teaching careers at St Peter’s College and we wish him all the best in the coming year.

Junior School Friends of Saints: Calling for nominations

It was wonderful to spend time with Junior School Friends of Saints committee members and Year Level Representatives on Monday evening, thanking them for their contribution to the St Peter’s College community over the course of 2021. I have been so impressed by the range of activities and events that our Year Level Representatives have facilitated; from Father/Son camping trips to Mum’s long lunches, family picnics to parents’ nights out; the level of engagement has been exceptional.

We have many wonderful opportunities for parents and guardians to become further involved in our School community in 2022. We are now calling for nominations for a variety of roles. All roles are focused on friend raising and all require volunteers who are committed to the values of our School in truth, respect and service.

Please click here to read about nominations for the following positions we are seeking to fill in 2022:

  • Members of the Junior School Friends of Saints (JSFoS) Committee
  • Year Level Representatives
  • Members of the JSFoS Event Volunteer Pool

I look forward to receiving your nominations through the completion of this form.
