Giving for Relationships
Last Thursday I attended the Anglican Schools Student Leadership Workshop with our Junior School Captains, Charlie Bruce (Year 6) and Joey Fitzgerald (Year 6), in addition to our eight House Captains Jack Pillay (Year 6), Charle Tonkin (Year 6), Alex Piscioneri (Year 6), Ahaan Kothari (Year 6), Dougal Grieve (Year 6), Lochie Siow (Year 6), Laurence Anderson (Year 6) and Max Mitchell (Year 6). Along with students from 12 other Anglican schools from across Adelaide, the boys explored the concept of ‘forgiveness – giving for relationships’ and how the basic elements of quality relationships are trust, forgiveness, integrity, hope and compassion. Working with John Hendry OAM, consultant at the Institute of Positive Education at Geelong Grammar School, the Junior School leaders worked on a plan to share their understanding of quality relationships with all the boys in our Junior School community. I look forward to them sharing their definitions of trust, integrity, compassion, hope, and forgiveness in upcoming Junior School assemblies to further cultivate a culture of respect and service in our Saints community.
Junior School Friends of Saints Quiz Night
Congratulations and thank you to the Junior School Friends of Saints Committee for coordinating a wonderful ‘Mad Hatter’s’ quiz night last Friday night. It is wonderful to be part of such a vibrant community that values social connections outside of the academic operations of school life. Thanks must also go to the many contributors who donated items for prizes, the raffle, and the silent and live auctions.
Parent/ Teacher Interviews
Information will be distributed soon about the Parent/Teacher interviews to be conducted in Week 9 on 17 and 19 September 2019. We encourage all parents to make bookings to meet and talk with both homeroom and specialist teachers about their son’s progress in all areas of the curriculum.
Personal Grooming
I would like to remind families that hair is to be regularly cut, kept neat and above the shirt collar. As a guide earlobes, eyebrows and collar should be visible. Haircuts shorter than number 4 are not permitted. Extremes of hairstyling, including shaved head, dyeing or bleaching of hair, are not permitted.
Have a wonderful weekend.
