House Swimming Carnival
It was wonderful to witness my first Saints Year 3-6 Swimming Carnival last week. The boys demonstrated perseverance, bravery and teamwork both in the pool and cheering from the sidelines. I loved seeing our House Captains and Sports Captain demonstrating their leadership.
Congratulations to Brookes House who were overall winners of the Henry Ayers Cup for House Swimming.
We look forward to presenting our Age Champions in Assembly in Week 7.
Pink Socks
Last week we saw a wonderful example of cross school collaboration. Our School Captains and Senior School Prefects joined forces with our Junior School Captains and Student Representative Council (SRC) members to support the McGrath Foundation. In purchasing and wearing pink socks last Friday, we raised just over $9,000 which will go towards supporting McGrath Breast Care Nurses in communities across Australia. Anyone who has been impacted by Breast Cancer will appreciate our contributions.
Year 5 Camp
The Year 5s have spent the last 4 days at Finnis, our Outdoor Education Campus, near Lake Alexandrina. The boys spent their time sailing, surfing, mountain biking and getting acquainted with sleeping in tents. I was lucky enough to spend Wednesday evening with the boys and witness another example of whole school collaboration. Mr Karl Grice our Senior School Head of Science put on his own version of a chemistry curiosity show for the students. Explosions, flying marshmallows and ‘elephant toothpaste’ make for a scientific demonstration that the boys are not going to forget any time soon.
