In this final edition of the 2024 newsletter, I extend my gratitude to all staff for their outstanding contributions throughout the year. I particularly wish to acknowledge those leaving St Peter’s College, whether retiring or embarking on new opportunities, and thank them for their service to our community.
This year, we farewell three remarkable gentlemen whose collective contributions span over a century of dedication to the School.
Mr Paul Hadfield
Building a long and fulfilling career with one institution is no small feat, particularly in the ever-changing landscape of education. Paul Hadfield has exemplified this remarkable ability to evolve and thrive. Across his 41-year tenure, Paul has made invaluable contributions in numerous roles, including Head of Young House, Head of Physics, Head of Science, IB Diploma Coordinator, Master in Charge of Swimming and Master in Charge of Water Polo. Remarkably, he coached the 1st VII Water Polo team for 36 years, claiming nine consecutive Intercol victories.
As IB CAS Coordinator for 18 years, Paul led 15 overseas service learning trips to Fiji and Cambodia, demonstrating the School’s commitment to giving back to those in need. His unwavering dedication, professional excellence, and consistent prioritisation of the needs of boys and their families have set a standard of excellence. We thank Paul for his incredible contributions and wish him a fulfilling retirement.
Mr Jon Inge
Over 34-years at St Peter’s College, Jon Inge has made a profound impact as an educator, mentor and leader. As Head of Farr House for 22 years, Jon’s commitment to pastoral care and positive education left an enduring legacy. His passion for teaching economics in a way that connects with real-world applications has inspired generations of students.
Jon’s association with Farr House spanned 29 years, during which he demonstrated great devotion to his House and its boys. Known for his deep care and support, Jon made it his priority to understand and advocate for every boy in his charge. His legacy of commitment and compassion will long be remembered, and we wish him every success in the future.
Mr Colin Harris
For 25 years, Colin Harris has been a steadfast presence in the Biology and Agriculture departments as a technician. His wisdom, expertise, and tireless support have been invaluable to staff and students alike. Colin’s contributions will be greatly missed, and we extend our sincere gratitude for his dedicated service.
To Paul, Jon, and Colin – thank you for your remarkable service to St Peter’s College. We wish you all the very best in your retirement.
Every staff member at St Peter’s College works hard to create an exceptional community of learning where students can thrive. To all our teachers, thank you for your dedication, passion, and commitment to nurturing the potential of every boy. To those staff members (from the Senior School and Junior School) who are taking up new opportunities or retiring – I wish you the very best in your future endeavours and know that you are always welcome here at St Peter’s College.
To our families, thank you for your unwavering partnership throughout the year. Your trust, encouragement, and involvement enrich our community and help ensure the success and wellbeing of every boy. We are grateful for the role you play in supporting the School’s vision and values.
As the year draws to a close, I wish all members of the St Peter’s College community a joyful Christmas and a safe, restful holiday season.
