The first two weeks of Term 4 have been an emotional rollercoaster for many. Our Year 3 students embarked on their first off-campus two-night camping adventure and our Year 4 students followed with a three-day camp at Finniss. By all accounts students embraced these important Outdoor Education development and learning opportunities with great enthusiasm despite some initial nerves. Normalising these feelings and the capacity to overcome each through participation and persistence is an essential element of the SPSC journey. We wish our Year 6 students well as they set out for Kangaroo Island next week.

The mixed emotions continued in the Senior School with the induction of our 2022 School Leaders and the week-long celebrations of our Class of 2021. Congratulations to those students who were inducted into official positions. As you lead, may you to look to the interests of others, act with humility, serve, particularly those in the minority, and serve selflessly. We can all look to our School prayer to check in on our measure of leadership. It encourages us to lead with truth, righteousness, beauty, order and reverence, strength and love in equal balance and good report.

As we farewell our Class of 2021 we acknowledge all they have achieved through a series of celebrations including very personal House Dinners, a special breakfast with parents and teachers, a final Chapel Service and Communion, Valedictory Muster and recognition by the School community along the traditional Avenue of Honour. Celebrations will conclude this afternoon with Speech Day followed by a Valedictory Dinner. Congratulations Class of 2021; you are graduating school as confident, compassionate, capable and caring young men who are ready to flourish outside the walls of St Peter’s College.

I also congratulate Matthew Liu (Year 7) and Darren Nguyen (Year 10) who were both awarded an ICAS Medal for receiving the highest score in SA/NT in the Science assessment. Outstanding results were also recorded in the International Chemistry Quiz with particular mention of Darren Nguyen (Year 10), Xian Huang (Year 12) and Tom Hosking (Year 12) who achieved High Distinction Excellence Awards.

In the SAFTA/Alliance Française Distribution des Prix prize giving ceremony held at St Peter’s College on Wednesday evening a number of our students received awards of excellence; congratulations to Jonathan Jiao (Year 1), Abraham Lee (Year 1), Kaeshav Rajasekaran (Year 2), Beau Leon (Year 3), Phillip Makooh (Year 5), Devon Xu (Year 7), Christian Bizot (Year 11) and Will Subramanian (Year 12). Old scholar Jimmy Psaltis (HWD 2020) returned to the School to collect the Alliance Française Prize for the highest mark in French in the 2020 IB Diploma examinations.
