I am proud of the way students have embraced a term packed with learning and activity. Many events rescheduled from earlier in the year made for a very busy Term 3 across both the Junior School and Senior School and I thank students, staff and parents for making this term a great success.
Witnessing 135 Year 1 and 2 boys perform to their musical best with such earnest concentration across three concerts in one day was an experience of pure joy this week. Congratulations to these students. What a highlight to finish a busy term.
I recently spoke to Senior School students about success; how success is not an accident, it is intentional. Recent success in winter sport and yesterday’s Achilles Cup were not accidental. The musical performances at Jazz @ Mem Hall and the Strings & Orchestra Concert didn’t just happen. All of these achievements are the result of hard work, dedication and commitment by students, staff and parents combined.
The vision of St Peter’s College is to be an exceptional community of learning. Staff are committed to this vision and working in partnership with students to help them reach their potential. I am proud of the way students have celebrated their successes this term while showing great respect for their peers.
I congratulate the following students for their outstanding results at the Senior School Athletics Carnival and Achilles Cup despite the tough weather conditions on both days.
• Aidan Murphy (Year 12) – won the College Cup for School Athletic Champion and comfortably won the Open 200m and 400m at the Achilles Cup.
• Adam Goddard (Year 11) – broke the 47-year-old Under 17, 1500m and Open 3000m record at the Athletics Carnival.
• Jonathan Harris (Year 9) – broke the Under 15, 1500m record at the Athletics Carnival as well as the Under 15, 800m record at the Achilles Cup in a time of 1:59.72, earning him the Tony Keynes Medal for the Most Outstanding Performance at the Achilles Cup.
• Josh Moro (Year 8) – broke the 43-year-old record in the Under 14, Long Jump.
Congratulations to Farr House for breaking the Under 15 Swedish Rely and the combined winners of the AK Gordon Trophy, Adam Goddard, Jonathan Harris and Josh Moro.
I wish all families a wonderful and safe Term 3 break and look forward to welcoming students back refreshed for the start of Term 4 on Tuesday 13 October.
