In term one the Miller Library, in an effort to improve the reading culture at St Peter’s College, launched the SPSC Reading Challenge.

The level of student participation has been commendable and a healthy dose of House rivalry has certainly spurred readers on!

During the semester students have been logging their reading on My Tasks and have covered a wide variety of fiction, non-fiction and digital books.

We’re now coming to the end of the SPSC Reading Challenge and in total students have read almost 75,000 pages!

Students still have until midnight Friday 24 June to log their reading before the Challenge closes with the winning House to be announced next term.

Although the Challenge is coming to an end we encourage students to keep making time to read. Research shows that even 10 minutes of reading a day leads to better literacy outcomes, builds empathy and reduces stress, so there’s never been a better time to get into the habit of reading!

If you would like any support in encouraging your son to read please get in touch with the Miller Library at library@stpeters.sa.edu.au.
