It has been an incredible end to what has been a tough, but rewarding Term 3. The fortnight kicked off with some final touches on Blue Week, a special week promoting men’s mental health awareness. The Junior School joined us in completing our piece, ‘Helping Hands for a Strong and Lovely Community.’ Alongside our Blue Week efforts in the Junior School, it was inspiring to see the Senior School boys mentally and physically preparing for what was expected to be a competitive and heated Athletics Day on the Friday of Week 9. Unfortunately, the weather didn’t bring the heat… however, the boys held their own against the rainy conditions and competed hard.

A huge congratulations to DaCosta House for winning the day and earning some final George Murray Shield points. We look forward to announcing the final scores of the Shield, as well as the Captains Cup, next term. Short House already has the edge in the Captains Cup, as earlier this week they were awarded the inaugural ‘Spectators Cup’ for the first time in its two-year history. The ‘Spectators Cup’ was introduced by our predecessor captains, Tom and Aidan, as a sub-category of the Captains Cup. It challenges the boys and their houses to attend and support various sporting, musical, and school events, aiming to strengthen our School’s sense of community and connection. We hope to start another successful campaign for the captains after us to continue in 2025.

As we approach our third and final Blue and White, we have the pleasure of hosting our Year 11 and 12 boys and their partners at our ‘Under the Sea’-themed formal. It’s been a lot of work behind the scenes, and as captains, we would like to acknowledge all the efforts that often go unnoticed. Special thanks to our events and marketing team from Oval House, especially Astrid Innes, who has handled the organisation of decorations, as well as the rest of the staff who will be looking after the boys. We really hope the boys and their partners enjoy the event—our aim is to create a charming and beautiful atmosphere. If you want to see our take on the event, make sure to follow us on @saintscaptains to catch the event in its entirety.
