Welcome to a new year at St Peter’s College.
For 2025, Tiger and I are aiming to increase the focus on being a community. A big part of a community, and especially the SPSC community, is giving yourself to others. This ties into being involved in the range of different skills on display; whether it is spectating at sport events, supporting the exhibitions of art, or attending concerts. When you are part of a community, your success becomes shared with those around you, just as their success becomes yours. Taking the time to spectate, attend a performance, or explore an exhibition is a way of recognising and celebrating the hard work of your peers. One thing I can guarantee is that success feels far more rewarding when it is shared. It’s the journey – its highs and lows – that you’ll look back on.
The best thing about this School is that there will always be a place for your interests – not only will they be accommodated, but they will be celebrated. That is something I want to emphasise throughout this year.
As leaders, our commitment is to serve you and support your school experience in every way possible. Every voice is valued because we all play an equal part in this community. In addition to student voice meetings, if there’s ever anything you’d like to raise, feel free to send us an email or drop by our office.
Building on our community focus, I encourage you to be your own person with your own opinions. The most important part of this, is realising that others will have different viewpoints and thought processes. Having conversations where you can respectfully disagree with the other person is invaluable.
Throughout this year, I encourage you to keep in tune with the Blue Army and Saints Captains Instagram handles. Tiger and I are looking to increase our outreach and content production there. This keeps in line with making sure you feel part of a community where your interests are being represented and celebrated.
While there is so much to look forward to, it would be negligent of me to not acknowledge that the school year can get pretty tough sometimes, and that it isn’t always smooth sailing. That’s ok, it is part of the journey. Just remember there are so many support systems in place at this School, all you have to do is ask. Our door is also always open. For the new students, our office is located in Allen Quad.
I cannot wait to see what this year has in store, and I wish each one of you the very best of luck.
