Welcome to 2022!
Regardless of the hybrid back to school start we’ve had, we are super excited about how the year has kicked off. To begin, we had a very special smoking ceremony led by our exceptional Indigenous Advisor, Uncle John Lochowiak. This ceremony encompassed the spiritual and cultural importance of the land that St Peter’s College is built upon as well as emphasising our commitment to reconciliation. It was a touching event where we were graced by the presence of the Head of the Junior School, Ms Taylor, the Junior School Captains, Andrew and Charles, as well as the Senior School House Leaders.
Shortly afterwards, we were officially inducted into our roles by Headmaster, Mr Browning, and our School Chaplain, Father Theo McCall. Although only a few Year 12s were in physical attendance, we hope the rest of the Senior campus could effectively watch the proceedings online. During this muster, we wanted to emphasise our commitment to Truth, Respect and Service whilst highlighting the many opportunities the school offers, the role of hard work and perseverance to reap the best benefits from this great school, as well as the crucial role of the students in order to enhance the positive culture of our community. Amidst this, we have been busy at work as organisers and facilitators of the National Student Leadership Summit, which is hosted annually at St Peter’s College in March. We hope that this event can carry on smoothly with the current guidelines in place; it is shaping up to be a day of meaningful interaction with like-minded leaders across our nation and learning about the crucial elements of leadership that exist in all of our lives.
We look forward to keeping the community updated on our endeavours as this year progresses, through this medium, as well the @saintscaptains Instagram page. Yet again, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us if there is any way we can support you throughout this year!
