Our garden plots are flourishing thanks to the hard work of our Grounds and Maintenance Department and the dedication of our volunteers. The drippers kept our crops damp, even through 46 degree heat! The worms in the worm farm were not so lucky, but replacements have been bought and we will soon have our magical worm wee fertiliser to feed the crops. This is a source of endless fascination to our young gardeners!
The crops that the boys planted at the end of last year have been regularly watered and we have been able to harvest out crops of squash, fresh herbs, chillies, capsicum, silverbeet, bok choy, spinach, tomatoes, rock melons and sunflowers.
Our produce is sold at the pop-up produce stall located in the Junior School Reception area. When our crops of vegetables, fruit and flowers are ready we display them here. All we ask is for a gold coin donation with all proceeds going towards helping the Anglicare Elizabeth Mission provide a hot meal each day for families in need.
Come and join us at Gardening Club each Wednesday and Friday morning at 8:00am. Parents are welcome as well as boys from Reception to Year 6. Learn about planting, propagating, harvesting, composting and making worm wee! No need to sign up, just come when you can!
