In the first week of the holidays I participated in the Geography Big Week Out on Kangaroo Island. Sixteen Year 11 students with the highest scores in the Australian Geography Competition were invited to attend from all over Australia.

We spent four days on Kangaroo Island learning about tourism, sustainability and wildlife on the Island. We met many local people who were able to share their knowledge about different parts of the Island. At the end of a week we did a group presentation and an exam. From here four students will be selected to represent Australia at the International Geography Olympiad in Hong Kong in 2019.

The Geography Big Week Out was a great experience and I learnt a lot about Kangaroo Island and geography, as well as meeting some great people.
