The Hamaan School Mathematics Competition, coordinated by the Mathematics Association of South Australia (MASA), runs annually in Term 1. This competition is designed to enable students to demonstrate their mathematics capability. We encourage all Advanced Mathematics students in Years 7-10 to participate. For the students who are in Year 11 and 12 we would suggest that students taking HL Mathematics in IB or Specialist Mathematics in SACE would find the questions accessible.

This year will be held on the 18 March with Junior (Years 7-8), Intermediate (Years 9-10) and Senior (Years 11-12) papers being offered. Students can register via the link available on the Daily Summary until COB Monday, 24 February. After this date please contact Ms Lisa Southwell directly on LSouthwell@stpeters.sa.edu.au to register interest. Please note that parents will not be able to register for their sons. Boys must register for themselves as the link is coded to their student ID and email address.

Suitable copies of past papers will be emailed to students once the link has closed next Monday.

This year we will also hold an afternoon training session for the SMC after school on Tuesday, 3 March, 3.45pm-4.45pm. Our facilitator for this session will be a guest and former member of staff, Mr David Martin who has considerable experience in competition questions. The aim will be to help boys in Years 7-10 to develop their competition question skills. Boys taking the senior paper will still benefit as many of the questions can be common across papers. Students can register for the afternoon session via the competition registration link.
