Harmony Day is about inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians, regardless of cultural or linguistic background.
On its 20th anniversary, the Senior School dedicated their Muster to St Peter’s College’s inaugural celebrations by recognising diversity within our School community. Year 12 student Charlie Allen was emcee for the day, with Tim Prince acting as the panel facilitator. Panellists were asked to talk about their backgrounds and their thoughts on why St Peter’s College should recognise and celebrate the diversity within our community. Thank you to the following panellists for sharing information on their heritage: Chathula Kiripitige (Year 10), Sri Lanka; Kosta Theodorakakos (Year 10), Greece; Darcy Lillecrapp (Year 11), rural Australia; John Zhu (Year 12), China and Mrs Annette vanRensburg (Head of Short House), South Africa.
In the Junior School, students spoke about diversity at the Junior Primary and Years 3-6 Assemblies. Junior School staff also held a special morning tea to mark the occasion.
Thank you to Sally Ziniak, Coordinator of International Programs and Stephanie Cabot in the Junior School for making our inaugural celebrations such a success.
