Blue skies graced St Peter’s College on Friday 19 September as we celebrated all things Track and Field with the House Athletics Carnival. The culmination of an intense program of athletics trials, Championship week and the Carnival day itself.

With more than 7000 individual results registered across the carnival day inclusive of track and field events, needless to say, this was a huge undertaking. In addition, our novelty events of tug-of-war and the sack + egg and spoon race were well attended. In a closely fought battle, Da Costa House claimed the Junior House Cup while Woodcock House showed their athletics prowess is as good as their swimming prowess by winning the Senior House Cup and emerging as the Senior School Athletics Carnival Champion House.

A special mention to our age group champions:

U13: Runner up – Khai Bui and Lincoln Meng, Winner – Wesley Young
U14: Runner up – Will Miller, Winner – Andrei Chemutov
U15: Winners – Joshua Davies and Ewan Woodall
U16: Runner up – Hunter Di Blassio, Winner – Ryan Weinert
U17: Runner up – Nathan Randeniya, Winner – Harry Clark
Open: Runner up – Aidan Fitzpatrick, Winner – Sandro Purugganan

Congratulations to our Captain of Athletics (Field), Sandro Purugganan who won the A.K. Gordon Trophy for the most outstanding performance during Championship Week with a Long Jump of 6m 82cm. Also, congratulations to Evan Cox who won the C.I. Taylor medal, awarded to Open 1500m Champion. Finally, a big thank you to all the staff who made this day possible. The tireless work of our operations team, teaching team and external coaches is the reason St Peter’s College is able to execute a program this extensive.
