On Friday 12 August, in the House Mooting Semi Final, the final four teams battled in court before the mock trial Magistrate. The two courts heard legal arguments in the contests of Short v Young and Da Costa v Farrell. The defendant on trial had been arrested and charged with driving recklessly in a manner dangerous to the public, facing a maximum penalty of six months imprisonment or a $1,000 fine, or both. The prosecution and defence teams valiantly displayed legal skill delivering strong opening and closing statements with excellent witness testimony providing evidence in support of their case.

In the end, the closely contested battles led to Short House and Farrell House victories.

The House Mooting Grand Final will be held on Wednesday 14 September between Short House and Farrell House.
