On Friday 22 May, St Peter’s College celebrated all things swimming with the House Swimming Carnival.

The day brought together boys from across the Senior School to compete in the traditional events of Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke and Butterfly as well as relays and the highly anticipated novelty events. In the lead up, an extensive program of swimming trials and heats gave all students the opportunity to score participation points and also via for a spot in the championship events.

Over the trials, nearly 950 boys registered a trial with 3016 individual trial results recorded across all strokes. Our less confident swimmers also had the opportunity to trial using swimming aids and earning valuable House points during the 200 Club sessions.

The day itself was a great success with excellent participation across our swimming and novelty events. Da Costa House was victorious in the Junior House Cup while Farr proved triumphant in the Senior House Cup competition. However, it was Woodcock who showed their depth of swimming ability across all ages, winning the Overall Senior School Swimming Carnival trophy.

A special mention to our age group champions:
U13: Runner up – Oscar Huang, Winner – Jayden Zhang
U14: Runner up – Hugo Yates, Winner – Henry Chen
U15: Runners up – Jack Lai & Nicholas Edwards, Winner – Tom Wallett
U16: Runner up – Jimmy Huang, Winner – James Teo
Open: Runner up – Nick Lindsay, Winner – Max Hewitt

Congratulations to our Captain of Swimming, Max who also won the Wells Cup for the Open Champion.

Two records were also broken during the day, Max Hewitt living up to his title of Captain of Swimming and breaking the Open Freestyle record with a sizzling time of 23.89s whilst Farr House broke the U16 Freestyle relay record.

Finally, a big thankyou to all the School staff across both teaching and operations that worked together to deliver this important event in the school calendar.
