At the start of Term 4, students from Years 7 to 10 sat the 2020 International Competitions and Assessments for Schools (ICAS) Science tests, conducted by the University of New South Wales. The test covered a broad range of topics including interpreting, predicting, concluding, investigating, reasoning, problem solving observing and measuring.

The results of St Peter’s College students were outstanding with 179 boys achieving a Credit or higher, placing them in the top 25% of all participants. In addition, there were a total of 62 Distinctions, which placed these students in the top 10%. 11 High Distinctions were awarded to the top 1% of those who competed.

St Peter’s College students also achieved the highest score in the SA/NT region in Years 7, 8, 9 and 10, the first time we have won a medal in every year group.

Congratulations to ICAS Science Medal winners Joseph Fitzgerald (Year 7), Siyu Cai (Year 8), Darren Nguyen (Year 9) and Nicholas Koh (Year 10).

Nicholas Koh and Tom Hosking (Year 11) have been invited to Olympiad summer camps. Thomas has been invited for Chemistry and Nicholas has been invited for Physics, Maths and Informatics! Being selected as one of the top 16 students in Year 11 for one subject is a wonderful achievement in itself. To be selected for three is outstanding, especially as a Year 10 student.
