This week, St Peter’s College held the 2025 International Students Farewell Lunch to honour our graduating international students. Hosted in the historic Big School Room, the event brought together staff, students and friends to celebrate the boys’ journeys and their contributions to school life.

The afternoon opened with live piano music by Rainy Fang, creating a welcoming atmosphere as guests shared a meal and reflected on how far the boys have come, from their first days in Adelaide to their final term at SPSC. The program was confidently MC’d by Alex Pang and Kemp Liu, and one of the highlights was the heartfelt speeches from Axel Ling and Russell Tan, who spoke about friendship, challenges and personal growth during their time at the School.

As part of the celebration, Dominic Wong presented a beautiful hand-painted artwork titled “The Little Prince”, created on behalf of the graduating international students as a gift to the School, a touching symbol of gratitude and friendship.

Hidden Gems in Our Community

Each international student brings a story of courage and determination. Many arrived in Australia as young teenagers, far from home and family, and have since grown into confident, capable young men. Across Years 7 to 12, our international cohort includes students from China, Hong Kong, Thailand, Sri Lanka, and Singapore, forming a close and supportive network within the SPSC community.

Many boys also take part in the After-School Tuition Support Program, spending their afternoons improving their English skills, completing assignments and helping one another. Their commitment and teamwork reflect the best of the School’s values.

Excellence Beyond the Classroom

Our international students have continued to excel in a variety of pursuits:

Debating: The international team finished as Runner-Up for South Australia in the SA High School Debating Competition, with Axel Ling and Lambi Choi later selected to represent SA at the national level.

Fencing: William Qiao achieved excellent results in the state fencing championship, demonstrating focus and perseverance.

Music and Performance: Several boys shared their musical talents through the School band and ensembles, performing at social and community events.

Leadership and Service: Many have volunteered at School functions, supported new students and served as cultural ambassadors.

These accomplishments highlight the many hidden gems within our international community, young men who not only adapt to new environments but thrive across academics, sport, music and leadership.

A Lasting Connection

As our graduating international students prepare to take their next steps, we thank all the teachers, tutors, boarding staff, and classmates who have guided and supported them along the way. Their encouragement has helped these boys grow into confident, compassionate global citizens.

In the Headmaster’s closing remarks, he reminded the boys that “wherever life takes them next — Australia, China, Singapore, or beyond, they will always have a home here at St Peter’s College.”
