On Thursday 8 August, our international students band performed at the International Students Music Social organised by Prince Alfred College at Norwood Hotel.

Our band, led by Year 11 Chinese student Axel Ling, includes Dominic Wong on drums and Kevin Zeng on piano. The band rehearsed diligently for two weeks, in lunchtimes to perfect their rendition of Jay Chou’s “Confession Balloon.” They made numerous adjustments to ensure a captivating performance.

On the night of the event, our international boarders came to support the band. When it was their turn, the crowd was immediately captivated by their musical skills. Axel’s confident vocals blended seamlessly with Kevin’s melodious piano and Dominic’s flawless drumming. Their performance concluded to tremendous applause, leaving a lasting impression on the audience.

After the concert, the group celebrated their success at a Thai restaurant on The Parade. The delicious food provided a perfect backdrop for lively conversations and laughter. Students shared their experiences from the night and discussed their favorite performances. This informal gathering allowed them to unwind and strengthen their bonds, creating memories that will last well beyond their school years.

We’re incredibly proud of our international band’s achievement. Their dedication and talent truly shone through, representing our School admirably. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the band members for their wonderful performance, Miss Wang for her invaluable assistance, and our international boarders for their unwavering support.

This event not only showcased our students’ musical abilities but also fostered cultural exchange and camaraderie among Adelaide’s international student community. It was a night of shared passion for music and a celebration of diverse talents.
