Jazz @ The Gov is a fine celebration of music, food and community and is one of the highlights of the St Peter’s College Concert Program. Held at the Governor Hindmarsh on Wednesday 15 August, the evening was a wonderful celebration of Jazz music presented by over one hundred St Peter’s music students involved in our Jazz Program.

The evening commenced with a rhymical trumpet fanfare performed by our lively brass ensemble on fanfare trumpets, purchased by our Friends of Music Society. The 2018 Music Captain, Robert Jones (Year 12) hosted the evening and eloquently introduced all our bands and guests.

A variety of music from the Jazz genre was performed to over 300 audience members and our guest artists was multi-instrumentalist Mr Adam Page, who thoroughly enjoyed participating in this exciting concert with boys who love to make music.

Performances on the evening were presented by Dixieland band, Contemporary and Jazz Vocal Ensemble, Swing Band, Improvisation Ensemble, Jazz Band, Saxophone Quartet, The Young Guns, Stage Band, Small Jazz Vocal Ensemble, Big Band and our guest artist Adam Page.  Our ensembles were prepared for performance by their ensemble directors Mr Geoff Bradley, Ms Gabriel Chammah, Ms Sally Cameron, Mr Alex Taylor, Mr Derek Pascoe, Ms Cassie Pope, Mr Damien Hurn and St Peter’s College student George Young (Year 11).

If you didn’t attend our Jazz concert this year, make sure you put it in your calendar for 2019. You will love it!!
