Registration is now open for the 2026 Young Archies Portraiture Group co-curricular. We specialise in portraiture, offering students the opportunity to honour a significant person in their lives through their artwork. All current students from Years 6 to 12 with a passion for Visual Art are warmly invited to sign up.

Our aspiration for our Artists is to exhibit their portraits in the Young Archie Competition at the Art Gallery of NSW, Sydney. The Young Archie Competition (est. 2013) is the ‘little brother’ prize exhibition to the prestigious and nationally acclaimed Archibald Prize (est. 1921). All students are welcome, whether currently enrolled, or not, in an Arts subject.

A repertoire of portraiture specific arts theory and technical skills will be developed in Term 2. Artists will create their final portrait for the 2027 Young Archie Competition during Terms 3 and 4, allowing sufficient time and opportunity for the creation of a high-quality artwork. Classes take place in the Senior School Art and Technology Building, after school, 4.00 pm to 5.00 pm on Mondays and Tuesdays.

We offer afternoon tea between 3.30 pm and 4.00 pm. All materials and instruction are provided at no cost to students, as these will be covered by St Peter’s College. The program concludes at the end of Term 4. Students will need to have parental consent to register. In addition, please inform us of any dietary or medical requirements at the time of enrolment so we can best support your son.

Please feel free to sign up to one of the information sessions here or enrol your son into the co-curricular program by emailing RSkewes@stpeters.sa.edu.au stating your son’s first and last name, and their school email address.

Information sessions for parents and caregivers:
• Tuesday 21 April (5:00pm – 6:00pm) OR
• Wednesday 22 April (4:00pm – 5:00pm)

We hope your son will join us for this enriching and unique journey of creativity, wellbeing, personal expression and connection!
