Students in the Junior School were invited to the library at lunchtime on Wednesday 3 February to celebrate ‘World Read Aloud Day’.
Staff gave of their time to read picture books to small groups of boys to recognise this international event, with many students moving from one story to another to enjoy the experience of a read aloud story. We would love the practice of reading aloud to continue at home as it engages children and captures moments that are truly special.
Our Junior School Library Captains were announced at assembly on Friday 12 February. During term 4, 2020, students in Year 5 were given the opportunity to apply for either a Library Captain role or to be part of the Library committee. Library staff had the difficult task of reading through the applications and speaking with students one-to-one during informal conversations to make their final decisions. We would like to congratulate Daniel Song and Hanaan Hasaan who have been chosen to represent the Junior School as our 2021 Library Captains. Their roles include organising events to promote reading, meeting with the committee once a week and leading our Book Week celebrations during Term 3.
