This year the Junior House Debating Competition has run from Week 5 to Week 8 of Term 1. Mrs Christine Iadanza and Ms Margaret Reid were pleased to see such positive involvement from all Houses. The encouragement from the senior students was particularly pleasing. After impressive performances in round 1 and round 2, Farrell House and MacDermott House progressed to the grand final, which was held on Monday 19 March in the Big School Room.

The debate topic was based around whether Australia needs to do more for refugees. With poise, enthusiasm and clever rebuttal points, MacDermott House were successful by three points. All students were praised by the SADA adjudicator for their effective manner, organisation and the high-quality content of their speeches.
