At SPSC, we seek students in the Junior School who aspire to leadership roles as captains of specialty areas such as Sport, Music, Languages, Robotics, Library, Art and Drama and who consistently demonstrate our core values of truth, respect and service in their daily actions.

These students show integrity, act with honesty, and take responsibility for their choices, while treating others with kindness, inclusivity and respect. We look for boys who have developed strong character strengths, such as perseverance, teamwork, initiative and empathy and who use these qualities to positively influence and support their peers.

Effective student leaders are those who lead by example, contribute enthusiastically to their chosen speciality area and show a genuine commitment to serving the School community.

This week’s spotlight is on Jaikrish Menon our Chinese Captain.

Jaikrish Menon
Chinese Captain

Why did you apply for this position?
I applied for the role of Chinese Captain because I have a love for the diverse culture and language in China. I became Chinese Captain to pass on my passion of Chinese to many others.

Can you tell us a fun fact about yourself?
One fun fact about me is that I celebrate Chinese New Year with my family every year by having hot pot together. I have also visited China once, which was a really exciting experience because I got to try different foods and explore different places.

What is the one thing you would like to achieve in your role as French Captain?
As the Chinese Captain, I want to help students enjoy learning Chinese and feel more confident in class. I would like to encourage others to try their best, learn more about Chinese culture, and create a positive and respectful learning environment. I also want to be a good role model by being responsible, kind and helpful to other students.

Anything extra you would like to add?
On Tuesdays at recess ‘Lion Dance Club’ is on, make sure to give it a go!
