The annual Junior School Swimming Carnival for Years 3 to 6 was held in Week 6 of Term 1 in the Burchnall Sports Centre Pool.
Following on from last year, we ran a separate carnival for each year level with all involved enjoying this format. It was fantastic to see so many parents attend to cheer on their sons at each of the year level events.
As always, each event was a very competitive exhibition of swimming with all boys striving to do the best for their House to maximise their points.
The Junior School Swimming Carnival is a good culmination of all the hard work the boys had done during their swimming lessons in the previous weeks. All of the boys are to be congratulated for their efforts in the pool and for the support that they showed each other.
The following boys were the top place getters for their age groups:
Born 2011
1st Jack Lai
2nd Thomas Wallett
3rd Tristan Zhang
Born 2012
1st Henry Chen
2nd Willis Pratt
3rd Sam Hobart
Born 2013

2nd Hugo Junin
2nd Sean Zhang
3rd William Fon
Born 2014/15

There are two cups that the boys in Years 5 and 6 have the opportunity to compete for during the carnival. These are the Edward Cherry Cup for the 4 x 25m Open Medley and the Gardiner Cup for the 100m Freestyle. This year Thomas Wallett (Year 6) won the Gardiner cup and Henry Chen (Year 5) won the Edward Cherry Cup. Congratulations to both boys on an exceptional swim.
Although everyone tried their best, there can only be one winning house and once again, Clayton Dyer House came away with the trophy this year in what was a tightly contested event. Brooks House was second, Alliston Jones House third and Stokes Ware House came fourth.
I would like to thank all of the staff for their support and willingness to help out throughout the day. I would also like to thank Tina Shaw for her help in setting up and ensuring that we had everything that we needed for a successful day.
