For ten days in May the language students took part in the Language Perfect World Championships. This is the second year that we have competed on an international level. We received 92 awards in total, an improvement of 36 from 2017. St Peter’s College placed third out of 55 schools in South Australia. We ranked second in French (out of 46 schools,) first in Chinese (out of 37 competing schools) and fourth in German (out of 43 schools.) Boys also competed in Spanish, Russian, Arabic and Italian. Collectively we answered over 470,000 questions and spent over 700 hours online.

The top scorers were Tom Wallman (Year 10) and Alec Vitalievich (Year 9) both achieving an Elite Award for 10,000 points, followed by Kuren Vu (Year 10), Saeed Bajhau (Year 9) and Johnny Miteff (Year 9) with an Emerald Award of 5,000 points.

Congratulations to all participants, what a phenomenal effort! We are now looking forward to the South Australia competition in September.
