At the end of last term, the Year 2 classrooms were filled with excitement and creativity as students welcomed their families and special guests for a hands-on construction session. This collaborative event saw students and their guests design and build imaginative creations using recyclable materials, aligning with learning in both HASS and English.
As part of their HASS inquiry into Places of Significance and inspired by their exploration of The Enchanted Wood in English, students chose to construct either a meaningful place or an imagined magical setting. Recycled materials were transformed into treehouses, enchanted forests and special landmarks or structures.
The session not only supported students’ understanding of history, community, and storytelling but also provided a valuable opportunity for families and special guests to engage with their child’s learning journey. The atmosphere was joyful and productive, with teamwork, problem-solving and imagination on full display.
Thank you to all the families and special guests who contributed materials and joined us for this memorable event. Your enthusiasm and support helped create a rich, engaging learning experience that students will remember for years to come. We look forward to more opportunities to learn and create together.
