Every week a Reception student is chosen to take a Book Chook home for an adventure with their family. The Chooks are Esmerelda, Gladys, Patsy, Feng Huang, Plume and Mabel, each with a unique personality.
The boys choose 1 of the chooks to put in the transport basket, complete with a journal, and take them home for a week. When the Book Chook is returned the following week, tales of new adventures fill the library.
The Chooks have been picnicing in the Barossa, heard many piano lessons, sat poolside for swimming lessons, eaten at fancy restaurants and tried numerous flavours of ice-cream! Finally it’s bedtime with many books shared and many more cuddles are shared.
The Book Chooks are extremely well cared for and loved by the Reception students. The three photos attached show the journal entries from Caden Hocter (RT), Dalton Chen (RC) and Barney Binette (RA). Thank you to all of the Reception families who have embraced the Book Chook experiences and recorded their time with such enthusiasm and fun.
