The National Simultaneous Storytime event was held on Wednesday 21 May. This event encourages schools, kindergartens, child care centres and families around Australia to share the same book together at 11.30am. The book chosen this year was “The Truck Cat” by Deborah Frenkel. Classes ranging from Prep to Yr 5 shared the story together in the function space. Later in the week Year 1 students replayed the live recording and followed the instructions of illustrator Danny Snell and drew their own cats.
The annual Book Fair was held during weeks 4 and 5, with students being responsible for selecting books they would like to purchase and then going home to ask their families whether they could possibly buy the book/s on their wish lists. Our older students were asked to support younger students in writing their wishlist.
The photos shared show class 5G supporting class 1D. Many popular titles were restocked from the Norwood warehouse so we were able to fill orders for 593 titles, with a further 188 titles being reordered for delivery. Many thanks to families who supported the Book Fair. This provides us store credit with Scholastic to continue purchasing for our library. We look forward to being able to deliver the remaining orders as soon as they arrive.
