On Friday 27 May, Memorial Hall was buzzing as we had the pleasure of hosting a Luminary Lunch. Tracey Grice, a leading Adelaide literacy educator and consultant was the mastermind behind the event.

Students from Seymour, Wilderness, Pembroke, Immanuel, Concordia, Kings Baptist, St Johns Grammar, St Mary’s and of course St Peter’s College gathered to enjoy lunch with an author / illustrator. There were goodie bags along with best costume and best table decoration prizes. Students engaged with authors and enjoyed many rich conversations about books and writing / illustrating. The highlight of the event was an engaging keynote address by author Adam Cece.

There was an amazing cast of talented South Australian authors who gave up their time to work with our up-and-coming future creators.  We would like to thank the following authors / illustrators who gave their all at the event:

Mandy Foot, Danny Snell, Katrina Germein, Robin Tatlow-Lord, Janeen Brian, Roseanne Hawke, Andrew Joyner, Adam Cece, Ross Morgan, Clarie Richards, Kristin Weidenbach, Tania Ingram, Marianne Musgrove, Lauren Mullinder and Sally Heinrich.

SPSC is looking forward to continuing this partnership with Tracey Grice and we hope that it will become an annual highlight on the calendar. Please enjoy the photos of the SPSC crew at the event as they chatted and engaged with author Adam Cece, illustrators Andrew Joyner and Ross Morgan.

I would like to thank Ms Jacqui Jenkins, Mr Jon Gelsthorpe and Mrs Julie Supple for supporting this event.
