On 13th August, seven teams of four students competed in the annual MASA Quiz Night event. The event has been an institution in the mathematics calendar for schools across the state for many years. Parents of current students may remember competing themselves back when they were in school!
This year, we were hosted by Adelaide Botanic High School and came up against teams from PAC, Adelaide Botanic High School, Adelaide High School and University Senior College. There were well over 150 students in attendance.
Four of our teams received prizes on the night, as follows:
Year 7/8
Overall Winners: Tyler Gao, Felix Siow, Andrei Chemutov, and Jack Lai
Category Winners (General Knowledge): Austin Sammut, Oliver Bath, Neal Shah, Lachlan Bell
Year 9/10
Category Winners (General Knowledge): Cruz Leon, Sam Kiu, Henry Lehman, Kalyan Jidugu
Year 11/12
Overall Winners: Daniel Teng, Steven Dinh, Vincent Truong, Devansh Singhal.
Most importantly, students enjoyed the company of each other on the night and had the opportunity to meet peers from other schools. I thank all students for their enthusiasm and support of the many opportunities offered in our mathematics program!
