Service learning
On Saturday 19 October a number of boys from St Peter’s College helped the Magdalene Centre prepare and serve meals to approximately 90 homeless men and women. Most meals are eaten at the Mission but some are taken away so there is a mixture of plating up food and placing servings in takeaway containers. Helping out was part of service learning and the Mission Guild was lucky to assist the boys in this endeavour. It is a wonderful feeling to help others especially those who are living on the streets. The Mission Guild has helped to organise two of these service learning opportunities this year and the boys who have helped out are to be commended.
Mission Guild will organise two more service learning opportunities for our boys on 16 May 2020 and 5 September 2020 which will be undertaken with the School. We would like to thank Mr Tim Browning, Headmaster for his support and Ms Kerry Skujins for coordinating service learning and helping us.
Second hand uniform shop
Term 3 also saw another Pop Up stall at the Junior School which raised $693.
We will be doing another two pop up stalls this term. One on Friday 29 November, 3-5pm as part of Step Up Day. The second will be held on Thursday 5 December from 2.30-4.15pm. Look for the Mission Guild flags.
New members
The Mission Guild is made up of parents of boys who attend St Peter’s College. Any parents who are interested in joining Mission Guild are very welcome. There are forms in the Second Hand Uniform Shop and we will be holding a formal drive for new members at the start of 2020 and more information will be provided early in Term 1.
