It has been an exciting term of music!

The Concert Bands Showcase held in Memorial Hall on Friday 10 June, was a wonderful evening with over 180 students performing across the Junior and Senior schools. A special mention to soloist Will White (Year 11) who performed beautifully on the trumpet.

The Generations in Jazz festival has been an annual highlight in the School’s calendar for almost 30 years. For the first time since COVID in 2020, Generations in Jazz was back in an online format! Usually, the event is held in Mt Gambier, however, this year schools competed via submitting video recordings of their groups performing. This year St Peter’s College teamed up with Walford Anglican School for Girls to perform and record their repertoire for the competition.

A special mention to the following students on your achievements:

  • Big Band, 2nd place
  • Superband placings: Johnny Turner (Lead Alto Sax), Charlie Wells (2nd Trombone), Andrew Xu (Vibes)

Division 3

Division 4

  • Superband placings: Lochie Siow (2nd Alto Sax), Vaughan Galloway (2nd Tenor Sax)

We are absolutely thrilled with these results; the best results SPSC has recorded at the Generations in Jazz competition! Well done to all boys and staff in their preparation of their performances, and thank you to all parents and guardians for your support of your son in Music at Saints.

Finally, congratulations to Charlie Wells (Year 12) who has composed an eight-minute piece of music inspired by a 17th Century poem for the Adelaide Harmony Choir’s 75th anniversary concert. The concert, In Praise of St. Cecilia, will be held this Sunday 26 June at Wesley Uniting Church in Kent Town. Click here to learn more.
