It has a been busy, yet, fulfilling time in the Junior and Senior School Music Department. On Thursday in Week 3, our various jazz ensembles performed at the annual Gig @ the Gov. Each ensemble put on outstanding performances to a packed audience.
Also in Week 3, several of our smaller chamber ensembles competed at the annual Adelaide Eisteddfods. We are very proud of all students who participated, and the following results were achieved:
Adelaide Eisteddfod (Section: “Open Age Chamber Music Competition 3 to 5 Players”)
- Senior Chamber Trio – 1st place (directed by Ms Irina Lioubimova)
Adelaide Eisteddfod (Section: “Year 12 and under Senior String Ensemble 2 to 20 players” section):
- Intermediate Chamber Trio – 3rd Place (directed by Ms Irina Lioubimova)
Adelaide Eisteddfod (Section: “Year 9 and under Junior School String Ensemble 2 to 20 players”):
- Junior School Chamber Strings – 2nd place (directed by Ms Sharon Campbell)
- Senior School String Quartert – Honourable Mention (directed by Ms Sharon Campbell)
In Week 4, several ensembles have participated in the annual ABODA SA Band and Orchestra Festival, held at Westminster School each year. The students have performed exceptionally well across their divisions, and we are proud to announce the following results:

- Senior Percussion Ensemble: Gold award, and Overall Section Winners (directed by Mr Andrew Chan)
- Intermediate Percussion Ensemble: Silver award (directed by Mr Andrew Chan)
Section: Junior String Ensemble
- Junior School String Orchestra: Gold award and Overall Section Winner (directed by Ms Sharon Campbell)
Section: Advanced String Ensemble
- Senior School String Orchestra: Silver Award (directed by Ms Sharon Campbell)
Section: Open Orchestra
- Senior School Orchestra: Bronze award (directed by Ms Sharon Campbell)
Section: Junior Concert Band
- Junior School Concert Band – Bronze Award (directed by Mr Damien Hurn and Mr Simon Varga)
Section: Novice Concert Band
- Preparatory Concert Band – Gold Award (directed by Mr Luke White and Mr Brad Turner)
Section: Advanced Stage Band
- Big Band 1 – Gold Award (directed by Mr Max Grynchuk)
Congratulations to all students and staff on all these impressive performances. It has been a wonderful two weeks seeing a variety of our ensembles perform and compete in a variety of locations around the city.
