Earlier this term, 21 boys from SPSC represented the School at the National Competition in Brisbane. The event featured six teams from the Junior School and four from the Senior School, with the boys spending two and a half days competing. Friday afternoon included registration and a practice session, while Saturday challenged each team to have their robot navigate six courses of varying complexity. On Sunday morning, the competition continued with two additional courses.

At the conclusion of the eight preliminary rounds, the Year 7 team of Bryan Wu and Nazir Rana secured first place and advanced to the finals. The Open Team, made up of Year 9 students Charles Nguyen and Brayden Xu, also topped their division. While our other teams performed strongly, they were unable to secure a top-three finish. The finals for each division were intense, consisting of a triple round with three interwoven courses.

Congratulations to Bryan and Nazir (despite Nazir being unable to attend) for finishing first in the Secondary Division, and to Charles and Brayden, who impressively achieved their two-year goal of winning the Open Division in their first year. Charles and Brayden will now have the honor of representing Australia at the International Competition in Brazil in 2025. This remarkable achievement highlights the talent and dedication of both teams, especially given their young age. 2024 has been our most successful year yet, with all our teams finishing in highly commendable positions, proving that Saints is a formidable force in the RoboCup Competition.
