On Wednesday 27 May, students from Reception to Year 2 came together in the Function Space to watch the National Simultaneous Storytime. This year’s book was Luna Roo – The Kangaroo Baller.
The National Simultaneous Storytime is a national live stream video that is watched all across the country, from homes, to schools and libraries. A picture book is selected by the Australian Library and Information Association and is read on the live stream.
Luna Roo – The Kangaroo Baller is a book about a soccer-playing kangaroo. She is selected as leader of the soccer team, but everyone thinks she cannot do it. Despite the doubt, Luna doesn’t give up and encourages her teammates to win the match! This story is similar to Jacinda Ardern’s presentation from a few weeks ago. Everyone doubted her ability to be Prime Minister because she was female and “too young.”
The students were asked what they think the moral of the story was, and these were some of the responses:
“Even if people think you can’t do it, keep trying.” – Ethan
“Don’t give up.” – Henry
“Be humble.” – Lucas
“Don’t give up, keep persisting.” – Yi
Everyone enjoyed this amazing book about soccer, persistence, and leadership.
