Joe Thorp, Chair of the Council of Governors, is delighted to announce the appointment of Tim Browning as the 15th Headmaster of St Peter’s College. Tim has a long and distinguished career in boys’ education and is currently Deputy Headmaster and Head of Senior School at Cranbrook School in Sydney. Previous roles include Head of Senior Years at The Scots College in Sydney, Director of Boarding at Anglican Church Grammar School (Churchie) in Brisbane, and Senior Boarding Housemaster at Geelong Grammar School.
Tim has a Bachelor of Engineering, Post Graduate Diploma in Education and Master of Educational Studies, all from the University of Queensland. He has also previously held the position of Director of the Australian Boarding Schools Association.
After an international search to recruit a new Headmaster, the Council of Governors are pleased to have appointed an educator who will bring a fresh and contemporary perspective on boys’ education. We were impressed by Tim’s extensive experience and skills, and believe he has the focus, passion and ambition to ensure Saints continues to be one of the world’s leading schools for boys. He brings with him considerable experience in both academic and pastoral care as well as staff and community engagement. He is a strong believer in the holistic education of every child, is passionate about sports, music and the arts, and has a long history of involvement in the Anglican church.
Tim will commence in the role in January 2018. He will move to Adelaide with his family, including wife Vanessa Browning and their three children. Vanessa is a leading educator and is currently Deputy Head of the Junior School at St Catherine’s School in Sydney. Their two sons will attend St Peter’s College, in Years 7 and 8 respectively. They also have a daughter who is currently in Year 4.
Current Headmaster Simon Murray retires on 30 June 2017 and Ben Hanisch will be Acting Headmaster for the remainder of this year.
