SPSC Athletics coaches (Track, Cross Country and Run Club) and old scholars Adam Goddard and Zac Connell are at present, both enjoying very successful Track Athletics seasons. In a field of many competitive athletes, Adam recently won the Open 3000m State Championship in the amazing time of 8:01.70. On the same evening, Zac completed the distance in 8:28.45, a new personal best time. Congratulations to them both.
We wish them well for the remainder of their seasons. Late last season at the Melbourne based Zatopek 10 Track and Field Classic, old scholar and Track and Field Captain Jonathan Harris (FRR 2023) won the Men’s 3000 metres de Castella Under 20 race in a time of 8:12.00. The meet, run annually since 1961, is named after Emil Zátopek, a Czech long-distance runner best known for winning three gold medals at the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki. It is a very prestigious event on the Australian Athletics Calendar. Well done Jonathan.
