Rowan Tong-Law, a 19-year-old graduate of Brisbane Grammar School – a school within our network – was enjoying his first year studying Physiotherapy at university when he was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia. After six months of chemotherapy without success, his best hope now lies in finding a matching stem cell donor.

With Chinese and Scottish/English heritage, Rowan’s strongest chance of a match is someone with a similar Eurasian background. However, there’s a significant shortage of donors from diverse ethnic backgrounds worldwide.

A global search is now on to find a match. The Register for Rowan campaign has already seen over 1300 people register in Queensland, but more donors are urgently needed. The process is simple: register online, receive a cheek swab kit by mail, and if matched, donation is similar to giving blood.
