The ELC is learning about the joy and goodwill of Christmas through the symbol of bells.

I heard the bells on Christmas Day
Their old, familiar carols play,
And wild and sweet
The words repeat
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!
— Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Amongst the excitement of the pageant, Santa and present giving and receiving, it is the message of kindness and goodwill that we are focusing on in the ELC.

Rev Julia welcomed the boys to Chapel on Thursday 13 November. It was the first time the boys have visited the Chapel and the sense of awe and wonder that comes from being surrounded by beauty and the comfort of rituals was evident.

The boys were treated to an organ recital by Dr van Konkelenberg. They shared thoughtful observations and questions about the stories and symbols in the stain-glass windows. They participated in lighting a candle, a timeless spiritual and emotional tradition.

In a true act of joy, as they left, they all rang out the chapel bell!
