Congratulations to Emerson Cooper (Year 12), who recently represented South Australia at the Oceania U22 Teams Rowing Championships in Queensland and the inaugural International Rowing Challenge (IRC) in Michigan, USA.
At the IRC, Emerson competed against crews from the USA, Canada, New Zealand and Australia B across multiple boat classes, with his strongest result coming in the Mixed Eight, where the South Australian crew won the B Final and recorded the fifth-fastest time overall.
He also raced in the Men’s Pair, Men’s Double Scull and Men’s Coxed Four, gaining valuable experience against some of the world’s leading junior rowers.
Emerson said: “The US trip was very insightful it was interesting to see the parallel between rowing SA and Rowing US. I was intrigued with the College system and the amount of sponsorship that they received. It also showed me how lucky I am to attend a school like SPSC that is able to provide boats leagues above what we were given while completing over in America”.
Congratulations, Emerson, on representing South Australia on the international stage.
